How to get & install FREE, full-featured Canon ip1700 driver under Ubuntu, NOT TurboPrint?

I have Wubi installed but have not been able to get my ip 1700 printer working well. I installed TurboPrint and can print only at 300dpi without paying or getting their large logo on my page/s. I have searched the Ubuntu sites and tried following instructions re: Japanese site. No success. Also–how to uninstall TurboPrint? Thanks again.
