If I format a windows drive with linux/ubuntu will the windows info still be recoverable?
I have a windows drive (NTFS), if I format this hard drive using ubuntu/linux to something like ext3 will the old data stored on it by windows still be recoverable?
Thanks

You make a PARTITION for the Linux. Format the Linux as ext3 is a pretty good choice. Then Ubuntu has software that reads the NTFS data files. To run about 70% of Windows software, you have to add a package called WINe.
