when I run win xp on ubuntu under vertualbox I lost the sound and some of my drivers ?

  Some things to try…

  1) Check “Enable Audio” hasn’t become unticked in the virtual machine settings.

  2) If you’re using pulse audio, different applications can be set to different volume levels. Check that the volume isn’t set low for VirtualBox

  3) Try selecting a different “Host audio driver” in the settings.
